Health & Wellness
- Medical Insurance: Comprehensive health coverage with access to a wide network of providers. Includes preventive care, hospitalization, prescription drugs, and mental health support. Employees may choose between a high deductible/HSA plan and a predictable plan (preferred provider) with United Healthcare. The cost of this benefit is shared between the employee and the Port.
- Dental Insurance: Coverage for preventive, basic, and major dental services. Employes may choose between Cigna Dental or Dental Decisions. The Port will cover the full cost of one dental plan.
- Vision Insurance: Coverage for routine eye exams, lenses, frames, and contact lenses.
- Wellness Program: Incentives for fitness activities and wellness challenges.
Financial Benefits
- 457(b) Retirement Plan: Company matches up to 2.5%.
- Florida Retirement System (FRS): This is a state-sponsored retirement plan for public employees in Florida. All Port Tampa Bay employees are mandatory members of FRS. Both the employee and the Port share the cost of contributing toward this benefit.
- Life Insurance: Two basic coverage plans at no cost to employee, with option to purchase supplemental coverage.
- Disability Insurance: Short-term and long-term disability coverage at no cost to employee to protect their income.
- Supplemental AFLAC Insurance: Provides supplemental insurance for individuals to help pay benefits their major medical insurance doesn’t cover. Paid for by employee.
Paid Time Off (PTO)
- Vacation: vacation days based on years of service.
- Sick Leave: 8 days per year.
- Holidays: 10 paid holidays annually.
- Floating Holidays: 2 paid floating holidays annually.
- Newborn Leave: 40 hours of paid leave for the birth or adoption of child.

PTB Internship Program
PTB provides a comprehensive internship program that emphasizes education and community involvement. This program gives college students the opportunity for work/learning experience; enhances awareness in educational arenas of Port Tampa Bay business activities, security/operations, and supports postsecondary education. Internships are available to college program students without regard to race, creed, religion, color, sex, age, national origin, political affiliation, disability, handicap, marital status, or any other category protected by applicable law.
The number of available internships per semester will be determined by the ability of PTB to provide programs and resources.
