Port Tampa Bay Welcomes Port Industry Veteran as New Vice President of Operations

- AMPA, Fla.— Port Tampa Bay is pleased to announce its recent hire of Sal Kass, who will join the Port Tampa Bay team as Vice President of Operations starting Jan. 31, 2017. His responsibilities will include the facilitation of cargo and cruise operations throughout the port area and further includes port access, whether by water, land or rail. He will also be responsible to ensure that all public terminal operator facilities are operated efficiently and professionally and in accordance with all regulations pertaining to the specific terminal operations. In addition, Kass will oversee that all port vessel traffic is directed to and operates from a safe berth and that operations are in accordance with best practices and regulations.

Kass comes to Port Tampa Bay with 40 years of experience in the operations and marine operation fields. Most recently, he worked as general manager for Ports America’s Tampa operation, where he was responsible for budget planning and P&L for both vessels and terminal operations, and he oversaw, organized and planned all personnel, security, terminal, stevedoring and ancillary services for the terminal. He also served as the company’s overall safety compliance and OSHA officer.
