Tampa Foreign Trade Zone Expands

-

The U.S. Department of Commerce Foreign-Trade Zones Board has approved the expansion of Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) 79 at Port Tampa Bay. On June 25, approval was granted to expand FTZ designated land at Port Tampa Bay to include an additional 1,149 acres at East Port, Port Redwing and South Bay under the alternative site framework. These recently developed areas of Port Tampa Bay join existing FTZ designated properties at Hooker’s Point, Port Sutton and Pendola Point.

Foreign-Trade Zone 79, also referred to as the Tampa Bay/I-4 Corridor (TB/I-4) FTZ Project, allows qualified companies involved in importing, exporting, manufacturing and distribution activities to benefit from cost savings on duties, taxes and other fees. Depending on the specific nature of their activities, companies located anywhere at Port Tampa Bay can now benefit from lower cost and improved efficiency.
