Port Tampa Bay and the Propeller Club of Tampa Bay are proud to be the presenting sponsor of Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful’s inaugural event, The Great Port Cleanup. We are joining forces to host a clean-up event around the waters of Tampa Bay. The first-annual “Great Port Clean-up” scheduled for Earth Day, Thursday, April 22, 2021. During this inaugural event, port partners and other dedicated community volunteers will safely remove trash and marine debris from several sites in and around our port. While the majority of this debris originates from outside of the port, we recognize our daily connection with our local waters and are dedicated to doing our part to eliminate marine debris and support trash-free waters in Tampa Bay.

This event is a call to action for the port community to support the ongoing efforts to keep Tampa Bay a beautiful place to live, work, and play.

“Port Tampa Bay has been a committed leader on environmental and sustainability issues. We are honored to bring together the maritime community and volunteers from the public to take part in the first-ever ‘Great Port Clean-Up.’ Living and working alongside Tampa Bay is a privilege and we remain deeply committed to the health of our area’s waters. We are so pleased by the outpouring of interest and support and can’t wait to make an impact for years to come,” explained Paul Anderson, President and CEO of Port Tampa Bay.

“Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful is excited to add The Great Port Cleanup as an addition to our Trash Free Waters Program.  Our Trash Free Waters Program empowers individuals to make a difference in their community while improving our waterways through our volunteer opportunities, “ says Debbie Evenson, Executive Director of Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful.

“The Propeller Club believes in being stewards of our environment and in particular Tampa Bay around which many of us live and work. This event provides an excellent opportunity for our more than 500 members to demonstrate our commitment and give back to the local community. I strongly urge each of our members to participate and encourage others and especially those involved in the maritime industry to do so as well,” said Mark Valenti, President of the Propeller Club – Port of Tampa. There are currently more than 400 participants who have signed up to take part in the first-ever ‘Great Port Clean-Up.’

The clean-up will take place at several waterside locations near Port Tampa Bay from 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 22.
