Port Tampa Bay Welcomes new Board Members

- Port Tampa Bay welcomes Mr. Ted Conner and the Honorable Sandra Murman to the Board of Commissioners. Mr. Conner was appointed to the Board by Governor Ron DeSantis and Commissioner Murman was selected as the representative from the Hillborough County Board of Commissioners. Both were sworn in during Port Tampa Bay's Board Meeting yesterday. 

Ted Conner is a Senior Vice President, Old Republic National Title Insurance Company and Deputy General Counsel of Old Republic National Title Holding Company with extensive corporate governance and insurance regulatory experience. Mr. Conner earned a B.S. degree in business administration with a major in real estate from the University of Florida and a J.D. degree from the University of Florida College of Law.  He was in private practice in the Orlando area for twelve years and previously served as General Counsel for Attorneys' Title Fund Services, LLC.

Mr. Conner authored chapters in Florida Real Property Title Examination and Insurance and Florida Real Property Sales Transactions (Fla.CLE). Mr. Conner serves on the NAIC Liaison Committee of the American Land Title Association.  He previously served on the Executive Council of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar.  Mr. Conner chaired the Florida Land Title Association's Governmental Affairs Committee and served on the FLTA's Board of Directors.  Mr. Conner is a Florida board certified real estate lawyer.

Port Tampa Bay also welcomed back to the Board, Commissioner Sandra Murman. Commissioner Murman was elected as a Hillsborough County Commissioner in 2010, and is now in her ninth year serving District 1. She was elected by her fellow commissioners as Chairman of the BOCC for 2017-18 and for 2014-15.  Prior to joining the County Commission, she completed eight years as a member of the Florida House of Representatives and was the first Republican Woman to hold the position of Speaker Pro-Tempore.

As a longtime resident of Hillsborough County, Commissioner Murman is currently focused on economic development for small businesses, transportation issues, fighting the opioid crisis, ending homelessness, providing high-quality critical children’s services and addressing mental health and substance abuse issues in Hillsborough County. She is a graduate of Indiana University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing. She is married to attorney Jim Murman of Barr, Murman, Tonelli, P.A. and they have a daughter, Michele, who graduated from FSU and is married to Dr. Michael Bradner of Tampa. They have two children.
