Port Tampa Bay was honored with the top environmental honor from Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful during their annual awards breakfast. The port won the Champion of the Forest award, which is the top honor their organization gives to a person or organization who makes a significant impact on the mission of Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful. The port was chosen for our support of environmental clean-ups, events, projects, and programs throughout the year.
Previously, our port and Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful, along with the Propeller Club – Port of Tampa, won the American Association of Port Authorities Lighthouse Award in the Environmental Excellence category for the annual Great Port Clean-Up.
“Our tenants and staff demonstrate daily that nature and industry can co-exist. Our port takes pride in taking our part in clean-ups and brainstorms ways to prevent litter and debris from entering waterways. We routinely involve organizations like Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful in our efforts to promote the sustainability of our region. We are especially proud of our work with Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful and the Propeller Club – Port of Tampa to host our annual Great Port Clean-up. Our 2022 event removed more than 36,600 pounds of trash and debris from our bay,” explained Paul Anderson, Port Tampa Bay President, and CEO.
Earlier this year, Port Tampa Bay and Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful were honored this week during Keep Florida Beautiful’s annual conference in the ‘Outstanding Partnership’ category of their awards program.
