Port Tampa Bay Promotes New Director of Cruise Operations & Emergency Management

Port Tampa Bay President & CEO Paul Anderson announced today the promotion of Shawn Brown to the role of Director of Cruise Operations & Emergency Management. Brown has served in a variety of roles within the port’s Operations Department for nearly 15 years, most recently holding the title of Manager - Operations, Safety & Training.

As Director of Cruise Operations & Emergency Management, Brown will be responsible for leading all cruise and passenger vessel operations and processes, acting as the on-call Incident Commander and leading emergency management programs/operations for Port Tampa Bay. In addition, Brown will be responsible for developing a strategic vision, implementing, and evaluating Emergency Operations Plans. This position is also responsible for leading all Port Tampa Bay cruise and passenger operations and serves as a liaison with operators, tenants, port users, and vendors for cruise terminal events, as well as, Sparkman Wharf/Water Street events.

Shawn Brown has overseen the growth of safety and resiliency initiatives at our port and is extremely qualified to oversee this important aspect of our business while improving our safety and resiliency efforts," said Anderson.

Brown earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Saint Leo University. He also holds a variety of certifications related to safety, security and maritime-specific issues issued by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and other federal, state and local agencies.

Brown has worked in a variety of positions within the Operations and Security Departments and has a vast knowledge of maritime-specific safety, security and emergency preparedness issues. He has played a pivotal role in the planning and execution of the port’s annual Hurricane Exercise and Safety Summit.
